I love dancing!

Sometimes, I will watch music videos and make up my own dance moves to get my heart rate pumping. Yes, I am panting by the time I realize I almost threw my back out and rolled my ankle. Wow, I sound old. I’ve realized through these experiences that I just need to move more and laugh more.

I do not have a gym membership so I like to find fun ways of exercising. I have a desk job with a fully stocked kitchen and let’s just say, the last year and a half has been too good to me (that’s my stomach talking). I have probably gained about 40 pounds. Having a fully stocked kitchen with catered lunch everyday saves me so much money but I am packing on the pounds. It’s hard to be motivated to workout once I get off of work since I am so tired.

However, I have found refuge! I love dancing, even if I look like a total freak doing it. Over the last few weeks, I have been trying new dance cardio workouts through YouTube. I have tried about a dozen different workouts and there have been a few that I am shocked even exist. I tried this Bollywood cardio dance workout and I wish someone could have seen just how dumb I looked trying to do it. The instructor was moving so fast, I was going one way and she was going the other way. I was a cheerleader for 10 years so I like to think I have some sort of rhythm but this workout made me look like I have never danced in my life. Let’s just say, I got a shin splint trying this workout…so, no more Bollywood for me. Let’s keep that one on YouTube.

While I had an epic fail with Bollywood dancing, I found three cardio workouts that are really fun and worth a try. I am totally in love with some of these moves and I would love to hear from you if you try any of these workouts.

This hip hop workout is great for beginners! Danielle Peazer shows how to get toned abs while also having fun. This video is only 7 minutes long so I highly recommend it when you are short on time because you will still get a great workout. Even though this video is only 7 minutes, my heart was racing after this workout and I felt it working my legs and core. I was actually pretty sore the next day after I tried this one but I will definitely be back for more! Danielle’s workouts are featured on ICONUK’s YouTube channel.

This 20 minute video is great to get your heart pumping! It’s great for people who have some sort of rhythm. Celebrity trainer, Nicole Winhoffer, is really good at explaining the moves and repeating them to help you memorize the routine. There are some parts of the video that can be difficult but it’s definitely worth a try. I had a lot of fun trying this workout because at the end I was able to retain the moves and fully use my body to do the dance. This video is featured on the POPSUGAR Fitness YouTube channel.

This ‘Body by Simone’ dance cardio workout will kick your butt into gear but I found it to be very fun. I would say this one does require a bit of rhythm as it is a little more advanced than the other videos. It is a 25 minute video and you will be sweating by the time Simone is done with you! This is featured on the homepage of the POPSUGAR Fitness YouTube channel.

Just for fun – Check out Fitness Marshall’s YouTube channel. He is hilarious and dances to Top 40 music. His videos are short but they are a great time!

Have fun and let me know what you think!

Be bold to live free, xo Aimée

“You’ve gotta dance like there’s nobody watching, Love like you’ll never be hurt, Sing like there’s nobody listening, And live like it’s heaven on earth.” – William W. Purkey

Don’t forget to check out the Recipes section for a fancy new dessert, Vegan Cinnamon Chocolate Chip Cookies. This is my own creation and it is to die for!
